A few months back I received and inquiry about doing a custom order of three rabbits for a woman and her two best friends, all of whom are expecting their first babies over the next few months. She had inherited some fabric that had belonged to her great-grandmother and wanted to know if I would be willing to use it in making the rabbits. I thought this was an incredibly sweet idea and that these would make perfect shower gifts for her friends. I finished the first of the rabbits this week and sent it on its way.
I paired the vintage fabrics with some of my super soft brown wool and gave the rabbit a pocket full of carrots. The pocked also has the initials of the little person who will be receiving it stitched onto it. I did a ton of trial runs on the initials and it was a really good way to finally get properly comfortable with the embroidery stitches on my machine. I've definitely regarded those stitches with some amount of hesitation in the past since I felt like it was tricky to get the spacing just right.
